Aaron’s Wish 2016

The fourth annual Aaron’s Wish Charity Dinner was held on the 16th July 2016 in the Celebrity Room at Dural Country Club. Thanks to our incredible and generous Supporters, Guests and Volunteers it was sensational night and $58,906 was raised for the Cancer Council NSW to go towards much needed Brain Cancer research!

Our Guests dined on the most amazing meal designed and created by the charming Ed Halmagyi (Fast Ed) along with his illustrious (and equally charming) team of Chefs including Neil Abrahams (President of the Culinary Federation), Karen Doyle (Program Manager at the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu), local Chefs and students from TAFE NSW – Baulkham Hills, all giving their time and skills to ensure the success of Aaron’s Wish. There was as much fun and banter in the kitchen as in the Celebrity Room. Our incredible supporters once again provided the best ingredients/wine and beer that Australia has to offer.

We were honoured to have the following Guest Speakers this year:

  • Professor Philip Hogg (eminent researcher) explained his research in “down to earth” terms enlightening our Guests how important research is in the battle against Brain Cancer.
  • Mrs Gail O’Brien very graciously agreed to speak about the journey with her husband Professor Chris O’Brien’s Brain Cancer diagnosis. Gail’s speech was beautifully delivered, showing great courage in talking about her moving and very personal experience.
  • Mr Jim L’Estrange (Cancer Council NSW CEO) spoke of the Cancer Council endeavours to ensure underfunded cancers, like Brain Cancer, receive precious research grants.
  • The Diamond Divas (aka “the Opera Diva, Event Manager and the lost Marilyn Monroe” with her singing telegram) sang beautiful opera through to popular songs, providing an atmosphere that was interactive, fun and sophisticated, with our Guests laughing and singing throughout the performance.

We look forward to celebrating our next Aaron’s Wish Charity Dinner with you on the 29th July 2017.

Together we can make a difference.
